Pan for gold just like they did in the Colorado Gold Rush, and take home your bounty! South Suburban Parks and Recreation naturalists will provide the expertise and equipment for families and individuals to search for gold. Water shoes recommended; bare feet are not permitted in the river.

“We find about the same amount of gold found by the early prospectors who started the Gold Rush — a flake or two in almost every pan,” said Skot Latona, Supervisor of South Platte Park. Everyone is welcome to keep whatever gold they find. This is a unique opportunity for people to connect to the community and find out what life was like in the South Platte River Valley 150 years ago.”

In the event of inclement weather the event will be cancelled.
