Checklist
Have the following items ready when starting your Grand Parade Entry Form:

  • Valid email address;
  • Certificate of Insurance — starting in 2026, all parade entries are required to provide proof of liability coverage. See the Insurance Requirements section on the Parade Requirements, Terms, and Guidelines web page.
  • Credit card for entry fees; not necessary if paying by check;
    • Payment must be received by WWW within 10 days after application is accepted. Failure to make check payment may cause the application to be deleted, and a new application will be required.
  • Be sure you know your Parade Category; selecting the incorrect category could affect your entry fee and delay processing your entry. For example, if you have a float with walkers, that is two (2) entries – one for the float and one for the walkers.

Entry Fee — WWW accepts a check OR a credit card for your entry fee payment. Payment by credit card is offered as a convenience. You do not have to pay by credit card but if you do, your payment is securely processed through PayPal, a credit card processing fee will assessed. A PayPal account is not required for payment. If you pay by credit card, your card will not be charged until your entry has been reviewed and accepted by WWW. If you select the incorrect Parade Category for your entry, WWW may correct your selection and your entry fee may change.

Amplified Sound Fee — WWW charges a $10 fee for entries with amplified sound. Entries with amplified sound are limited and sound is not guaranteed. This does not apply to Marching Bands or Pipe Bands. All amplified sound must be directed to the sides of the entry; no forward- or rear-facing amplification. Amplified sound cannot interfere with or be a nuisance to other parade entries.

Live Animals — Live animals must be under control at all times. All dogs must be on a leash at all times (Littleton City Code 6-2-4). Be sure to bring extra water for your animals. The 1.5-mile parade route is asphalt and can get very hot for pet’s paws in the summertime. Please have a way to relieve pets from the heat; wagons, placement on float, or in a vehicle. Water is available to fill your horse troughs at the ACC equestrian staging area. Water is NOT available at the Gallup Street staging area.

Marching Bands — Due to the Grand Parade's growth in popularity, parade timing, and staging limitations, the number of marching bands that can be accommodated in the parade is limited to 12 schools. Priority will be given to bands based on prior attendance and space availability.

Political Entries — Only one entry per candidate, seated official, and political party. Walking is not permitted with any political entry.

Horses before horns: the surprisingly tricky art of the Parade Lineup

“The last thing spectators see in the parade has to be the BEST, because that’s what they’ll remember!”
—Bill Lomas, “The Parade King” and producer of the Hollywood Christmas Parade for 42 years

A parade lineup follows a well-established, strategic protocol designed to maximize entertainment, ensure safety, and keep the procession moving smoothly.

For example, the first entry in the Western Welcome Week Grand Parade is always the Littleton Police Department Honor Guard, followed by veteran and military groups and local dignitaries. Equestrian units require thoughtful positioning in the first half of the parade, away from loud noises such as marching bands, that could startle the horses, and allows the animals to return to their trailers and water sooner. Marching bands and other entries with amplified sound must be separated by quieter groups so their sound does not interfere with other parade entries. The last entry in the parade are always the Littleton’s Street Sweepers, ensuring the streets are clear of debris.

Please do not request to be at the front of the parade. The parade committee needs flexibility to shift entries for last-minute changes to ensure every group is placed where it works best.
