The Western Welcome Week program begins at 6pm with introduction of the Western Welcome Week Board of Directors and THANK YOU for all of their hard work. Introduction of WWW Grand Marshals Dick Lautenbach and Bruce Annabel.

Sit back and listen to the Denver Municipal Band, the oldest professional concert band in the United States. The Denver Municipal Band was founded in the late 1860s by Alex Sutherland, bugler at the “Charge of The Light Brigade.” Surviving the ordeal, he settled in Denver where he was active in many of the city’s early musical activities. Originally constituted as the GAR Post Band,it performed early municipally funded concerts throughout the 1870s and 80s, changing its name to the Denver Municipal Band in 1891 when it began its continuous history of Denver Municipal Funding.

South Suburban Wellness Van

Visit South Suburban’s Fitness Van with wii sports games, hula hoops, jump ropes, discs, balance equipment and more! Van rental includes a Certified Fitness Instructor. Great free FUN for the kids.

After introductions, get into the beat and welcome the Drum Lines from Arapahoe and Heritage High school! Then sit back and enjoy the evening, featuring the Denver Municipal Band performing from approximately 7:15-9pm.

Picnickers enjoy the fireworks after the concertFireworks begin approximately at 9pm. Western Welcome Week provides a professional fireworks display, every precaution is taken to provide a safe show for the spectators and the surrounding neighborhood.

Note: W. Shepperd Avenue will be closed from Bemis Street to Spotswood and  S. Spotswood Street will be closed from Shepperd Avenue to Lake Avenue at 2pm. Access has been arranged for residents on S. Spotswood Street.  Handicap parking with placard or plate will be allowed to park in this area — space is limited. Handicap drop-off is always allowed.
